Jonny Returns to the GT3 Cup

Returning for his second season in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Jonny Reid has just one goal, to go one better than last year and win the title.

Racing for the first time in a GT3, Reid took quickly to driving a relatively unfamiliar race car to that of an open-wheeler of what he is used to, and promptly showed the other competitors that he was serious about challenging for the drivers title. Taking out three race wins and two round wins last season assisted Reid in securing second place in the championship behind Craig Baird, however the result could have been better if Reid had more time in pre-season testing allowing him to get used to the new car.

“I was confident that I would learn the car quickly” said Reid, “and to get on the podium early on in the series and then get three race wins in the second half was showing that I was getting quicker all the time. This season will be different, I don’t have that learning phase to go through and International Motorsport have prepared a strong car for me, so look out.”

Round 1 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge gets underway at Pukekohe this weekend.
